Well Heeled

I love shoes and let’s face it the ones you wear on your wedding day are a pretty important pair! I bought my wedding shoes before I had even started looking for my dress, I knew exactly what I wanted and it wasn’t exactly traditional. I chose the gorgeous “milk mint” from Irregular Choice and I was so glad I had them before I started the dress buying process. The pros for having the shoes prior to the dress were that I knew how much the dress would need to be taken up, or if the dress was going to get snagged on the shoes (I was amazed at how much material there is in a wedding dress).

There are so many wedding shoes to choose from! A few things to consider are the time of year you’ll be getting married, location of the wedding, your budget, what heel hight you will be comfortable in and the colour and style of shoe. That pair of Jimmy Choo’s with a skyscraper heel you saw on Pinterest might look gorgeous, but would they really be suitable for your festival themed day in a muddy field?

If you want a high or low heel, flat sandal or ballerina pump, classic white satin or colourful glitter the shoe for you is out there somewhere. Whatever shoes you buy for your big day, remember to wear them in beforehand (and maybe have your bridesmaids have some plasters on stand-by just in case).

Here are some of my favourite ones that are out there right now ranging from high street steals to designer beauties.
These gorgeous gold glitter court shoes are by Dune from ASOS and are under £50, you could wear these over and over again after your wedding day and never be out of style.

If you would like a more traditional bridal shoe stick with ASOS for this cute pair. I could see these being worn with a gorgeous fifties style tea-dress.IMG_1505
For a fun 1930’s feel try these Jenny Packham shoes and get ready to drink champagne and dance on the table simply to show off your shoes!FullSizeRenderAs I have already said my own wedding shoes were from Irregular Choice and their new bridal collection doesn’t disappoint. Choose from bows, flowers, glitter, colour and pattern. There’s even bride and groom character heels! I adore Abigail’s Party and Nick of Time, which comes in six colours.

If you’re going to splash out on your shoes and you want something very special and loads of fun then look no further than Sophia Webster. Although the ones I am showing here are white, there are colours and patterns galore in her collections. I love Evangeline and Angelo, their delicately different angel wing design is screaming to be shown off if you’re wearing a shorter dress. The angel wing theme is continued with the flat sandal Seraphina which would be perfect for a beach wedding.

A blog about shoes simply wouldn’t be complete without a pair from Christian Louboutin. I’ll admit it, I am slightly in love with these shoes, thanks once again Mr Louboutin for yet more shoe envy…

My final piece of advice for any bride-to-be is to wear whatever shoes you want to on your wedding day! If you want to change into another pair in the evening then do it, if you want to bring your tatty old trainers to dance the night away in then do that too. It’s your day, do it your way.
